In May of 2003 I was asked to be the Musical Director/guitarist for Michael McDonald for a BBC concert staged at the Mermaid Theatre in London. I put together a 33-piece orchestra (20 strings, 6 brass, rhythm section, organ, percussion, 4 backing singers) with McDonald on electric piano. The concert was aired June 16, 2003. Shortly thereafter I interviewed Michael about his beginnings as a studio musician, his own artist development and his concepts about performance and arrangement. He demonstrated all his ideas on the piano. This is a unique opportunity to hear one of the most respected and influential musicians of our time singing, playing and discussing his artistry.
